Arachnida from northern Queensland. Part I
Abstract
The material enumerated hereunder was collected by Mr. A. A. Girault in Northern Queensland. By far the greater bulk of the species was collected in the vicinity of Gordonvale, formerly known as Nelson. The Spiders are mostly small, and of the arboreal type. This is what one would naturally expect when the methods of collecting adopted by Mr. Girault are considered, namely, "beating" and "sweeping." There are, however, as will be seen by a perusal of the contents of this paper, a few terrestrial forms.
In such a mass of material as that collected by Mr. Girault, and from a district so rich in individuals and species, it is only natural that some novelties should occur, and so we find it. These, which include new genera and new species, are in addition to already recorded forms enumerated below. The "Girault Collection," as this material may be called, include one Isometroides, one Chelifer, one Dampetrus, one Trombidium and one Rhincolophus, all of which are recorded in their proper place.
